Inspection
The Inspection is a two-day intensive workshop designed to systematically assess the current state of your automation infrastructure or legacy process automation. The goal is to identify automation or migration potential, evaluate technical and organizational feasibility using the Operaton platform, and select and prepare a suitable use case for a subsequent Proof of Concept (PoC) or Proof of migration feasibility (PMF).

Our joint path to proof of concept
Day 1
Analysis & Assessment
- Kick-off & Objective Alignment
Joint clarification of expectations, framework conditions, and the focus of the inspection. - As-Is Analysis
Review of existing business processes, systems in use, workarounds, manual tasks, and any existing automation initiatives. - Technology & System Landscape Assessment
Clarification of relevant technical conditions (interfaces, data access, IT architecture). - Feasibility & Potential Evaluation
Initial classification of suitable processes, quick wins, and potential barriers to automation.
Day 2
Target Design & PoC Preparation
- Target Design and PoC Scoping
Collaborative sketch of a future-state process automated using the Operaton. Selection of a representative use case for the PoC. Clarification of scope, systems involved, and technical interfaces. - Definition of PoC Success Criteria
What defines success? Definition of relevant KPIs and qualitative evaluation criteria. - Next Steps & Recommendations
Documentation of results, PoC roadmap, resource planning, and identification of remaining gaps.
Resources from you
To make sure all needed information are at hand, we recommend the following participants during the inspection.
Required roles
Business process owners (domain experts)
IT architects / interface experts
Project sponsor or decision-maker (for strategic alignment)
Optional
Application owners (ERP, CRM, etc.)
Compliance / IT security representatives (for sensitive processes)
What are the deliverables?
An inpsection meeting delivers a set of specific, that allows for further investigation on automation or mitgration efforts. These artifacts serve to prove technical feasibility, demonstrate business value, and create a solid foundation for the subsequent project.
Based on our approach, you can expect the following deliverables:
1. Inspection Report
- Summary of the organization’s automation maturity
- Documentation of analyzed processes and systems
- Potential analysis, including effort/benefit classification
2. Feasibility Assessment
- Identification of technical prerequisites and constraints
- System integration check (APIs, data access, etc.)
- Evaluation of organizational factors affecting automation
3. PoC preparation/ PMF preparation
- Selection and outline of the proposed PoC use case
- Suggested measures for migration and implementation
- Definition of success criteria, KPIs, and test objectives
- High-level resource and time planning for the PoC
4. Measurable Results and KPIs
To objectively prove success, quantitative data is provided.
- Number and maturity level of automation-ready and migration-ready processes
- Clear feasibility assessment, including risks and system integration needs
- Concrete PoC proposal with defined evaluation metrics
Your next steps
Once the POC is complete, and it has been proven that Operaton is suitable for the technical requirements of your automation, further options are available to you on your journey into open source process orchestration.
